Psalms 63
So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory. Psalms 63:2 NKJV
David was so good at praising God for His incomparable power. He had seen and experienced God’s power in his life, and had no problem giving God the glory for it all. King David knew that he needed God in his life in order to be victorious. His wealth, status, and vast influence did not matter. He had steadfast faith in God’s power and was willing to sing His praises again and again. If you look back carefully throughout your life, you will be able to identify times when you also experienced God’s power first hand. The problem is that most of us make the mistake of forgetting to give God the proper credit each time He does something for us, whether it is what we expected or not. We need to constantly remind ourselves that God created everyone and everything, and He is in control. His plans are always good and are deserving of our trust, patience and praise. Taking the time to thank Him for what happens to you, whether big or small, will help you maintain proper perspective on your life, will help you with humility, and will keep you intimately connected to Him. “You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because You created what You pleased” (Revelation 4:11). No matter what is going on in our lives, we can always stop and be thankful for Jesus’ sacrifice that gives us daily, intimate access to our amazing, loving, all-powerful Heavenly Father. We are so blessed to have this relationship with Him, where we can be recipients of His love, mercy, protection and power.
“Yours, LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is Yours. Yours, LORD, is the kingdom; You are exalted as head over all” (1 Chronicles 29:11). Amen!
