Psalms 27
One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple. Psalms 27:4 NKJV
What is THE most important thing in your life? For King David, it was to spend time with God. If you could ask for only one thing in life, what would it be? David asked for the opportunity to be with God and seek Him every day of his life. He set an example for us in order to teach us how to prioritize our thoughts and our time. Jesus had the same message for us over 1000 years later: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength” (Mark 12:30). Spending time with someone is one of the ways that we show that we love them, value them, and respect them. This is also true of our relationship with God. The awesome thing is that He makes it pretty convenient to be able to spend time with Him: We can talk to Him any time of the day and anywhere we go. Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 3:16: “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?” So wherever you are, God is there, too! Although going to church and worshiping Him in a public setting is important, spending time alone with Him is even more vital. Spending personal, one-on-one time with God focuses your attention on Him, gives you the opportunity to be open and honest with Him, allows you to hear from Him, and gives your relationship the right environment in which it can grow and flourish. In addition, we have the gift of the Holy Bible, which we can study in order to understand God’s character and get to know Him more intimately.
So be sure to take advantage of God’s convenient office hours and book a personal appointment with Him every day.
