Psalms 105

Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face evermore! Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,  ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭105:4-5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

These verses remind us where our strength comes from and how we can live powerful, peaceful and purposeful lives.  We need to be in the habit of seeking God and His guidance in every situation.  Why is it so important to show God that we trust Him and have faith in His plans?  The answer can be found in Hebrews 11:6: “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”  The most important thoughts that we can have are ones that focus on God and His ways, because they will determine the quality and direction of our lives.  In this fallen world in which we live, however, where Satan deceives and there are so many distractions, seeking God must be a deliberate and ongoing commitment for all of us.  It is not always easy, and at times it may feel as if God is far away from us.  It is during these times that we need to remember the promise from Jeremiah 29:13: “You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.”  King David, the author of Psalm 105, teaches us that one of the easiest ways we can find God is by remembering His past miracles and deeds.  He specifically recorded for us the multitude of miracles God performed to save the Israelites from captivity in Egypt.  It was written as a reminder to us that He is not a distant and uncaring God, but One who is loving and is concerned about our struggles and trials.  As long as we diligently seek Him and have obedient hearts, He is willing and able to save us from anything that is preventing us from living the abundant life that He has planned.  Studying the stories of the Bible and remembering our own experiences of the past will help to strengthen our relationship with a God who is always waiting for us to find Him.

“But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul” (Deuteronomy 4:29).  Take some time today in remembering the ways in which He has helped you personally in the past.  Thank Him for those miracles in your life, and expect that He will continue to work in your present situation.  While you are waiting for Him to resolve or carry you through your current problems, rest in the knowledge that He is with you and that trusting in Him through your struggles will strengthen your relationship with Him even more.  Believing this as truth will help bring you peace, joy, and comfort regardless of your circumstances.
