Genesis 34
Genesis 34:1-31 In an effort to get revenge for what happened to Dinah, Simeon and Levi committed multiple sins themselves: lying, stealing, and even murder. It was for this reason that Jacob cursed them during his speech to his sons when he was on his deathbed (Genesis 49:5-7). Their descendants eventually lost the part of the promised land that was allotted to them. In 1 Peter 3:9, Peter says these wise words: “Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.” If Dinah’s brothers had left the punishment for God to handle, they and their descendants would have inherited a blessing. Ultimately, the final judgement is coming, where all those who have done wrong and not repented will receive a just punishment. Leave the judgement to God and do not be tempted to take matters into your own hands.
