Exodus 9
But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart and he would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the Lord had said to Moses. Exodus 9:12 NIV
Although the Lord hardened Pharoah’s heart, the decisions that Pharoah made were his own. The Lord did not overrule Pharoah’s free will, just like He never overrules our free will. Proverbs 16:9 states: “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” God is here to guide us if we decide to choose to follow His ways. But, we always have the choice to follow the path towards sin. This choice is exemplified in the powerful words of Joshua: “But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15).
We all face many choices every single day, and each time we have the opportunity to choose to follow God’s path that leads to abundant life.
