Exodus 10
that you may tell your children and grandchildren how I dealt harshly with the Egyptians and how I performed My signs among them, and that you may know that I am the Lord. Exodus 10:2 NIV
God told Moses to tell his children and grandchildren about what miracles he had seen God perform. This would become part of Moses’ legacy to his family and to the world. It is these stories of miracles, deliverance, and provision that are recorded in the first five books of the Bible. God requires that we all leave a legacy for our children and the world that we will one day leave behind. Proverbs 13:22 states: “A good man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children.” Traditionally, a legacy is thought of as an amount of money or property that is left to someone in a will. But, we also leave behind a social, emotional and spiritual legacy for those around us. These are the intangible elements that your family and friends will remember and carry on. Your spiritual legacy comes from the way that you act out your faith every day in front of your family, and is the only one that will make a difference for eternity. What amazing things has God done for you? Be sure to share them with your family and friends, so they may know about God’s power to change lives. These types of personal God stories are a powerful testimony to others and can often be a very effective way to talk about God with others.
